About Me
Hi, I’m Lisa – an animal portrait artist living on the Surrey/Hampshire borders in the UK. I share my life with my husband Charlie, our two teenage boys, and a small but ever-growing collection of animals. We’re currently in the slow (and sometimes chaotic!) process of renovating our 120+ year old home – a labour of love that reflects much of who I am: grounded in tradition, inspired by nature, and endlessly creative.
My love for animals and drawing has been with me for as long as I can remember. I can’t imagine a life without being creative – it’s as natural to me as breathing. I trained in textile design and went on to teach secondary and A-Level art for ten years before deciding to follow my heart. I left the classroom to pursue my lifelong dream: capturing the spirit and personality of animals through my artwork, and sharing that joy with others.
My first commissioned piece came when I was a teenager – a friend asked me to draw her pony, and I’ve never looked back. That early experience ignited something in me, combining my love for animals with the joy of creating something meaningful for others.
I’ve ridden and owned horses for over 25 years. The freedom and peace I found in the saddle was unlike anything else. Although I stopped riding recently after losing my heart horse, that deep connection with animals continues in a new direction – through my growing passion for dog sports, particularly Mondioring, which I now train in with my Belgian Malinois, Juno.
Our little menagerie also includes Lottie, our other dog, Sooty the rescue cat, chickens at the bottom of the garden, and a tortoise called Spike. Life is rarely quiet – but it’s full of character, colour, and inspiration.I’m a country girl through and through. I find great pleasure in gardening, growing vegetables, and just being outside with nature. That peace, connection, and love of animals is what I try to bring into every portrait I create.
Art is my therapy, my passion, and my way of helping others celebrate the unique bond they share with their pets. Whether it's a soulful equine eye, a mischievous dog grin or the gentle gaze of a beloved cat - I pour my heart into every piece.
